Technology intelligence was drawn from the company’s Acetow site in Germany, from where it adopted processes, equipment and experience. Currently, 90 per cent of Rhodia Acetow Venezuela’s production is dedicated to export, with the remainder going to domestic markets.
Rhodia Sílices de Venezuela C.A. began its activities in 1979, at a plant called Venesil – Venezolana de Silicatos C.A., a subsidiary of the Serviquim company, a group specializing in products for cleaning processes and specialty chemicals for industrial use.
To address market requirements, the company began to produce precipitated silica and aluminum silicate – high technology raw materials derived from sodium silicate. This kind of silica is used in rubber - especially for shoes and car components - tires, agrochemicals, paints and toothpastes.
In December 2000, Rhodia acquired Venesil and the industrial site became part of Rhodia Latin America.
Rhodia Silices Venezuela now exports raw materials to many countries in America and Europe.
